Default Robotic IOI's Experiment

catchy title eh?

the scientific method goes like this-
1. observation
2. form hypotheses
3. design experiment
4. run experiment
5. observe
|
rinse wash repeat.

observation
i'll notice girls will look at me
then flip their hair, then look away....
especially if i'm standing with my back to a bar,
and a girl and maybe a guy friend in front of me (good social proof).
this may be some sort of evolutionarily calibrated response to a male whom is preselected
if i've got value for some woman, then i'll have it for another woman

Hypothesis
the hair flip then look away is a Robotic IOI.
an evolutionarily wired approach invitation.
girls don't realize they are doing it.
i hypothesize that if i notice a girl do this, then i approach from behind she will welcome my advances.
on the other hand, if i approach from behind without this robotic IOI she will be startled

Design Experiment
position myself with my back to the bar
with a woman in front of me.
when i notice a robotic IOI, approach immediately just to say hi
then eject back into position with my female wing.

run experiment and observe
i did exactly what the design says,
i positioned myself (back to bar) at a local bar
and talked to a FB of mine for roughly two hours
kept the same position basically, maybe shifted weight from one foot to another,
went to the bathroom a couple of times.
i was leaning against the bar and she was facing me
looking as if she's into me (she is in to me, by the way .ha)

i notice a robotic IOI from a cute dark haired girl
i approach, "hi, how are ya?"
her: <smles> "great how are you?"
hypothesis confirmed
i go back to my post (leaning against the bar) immediately

see another lovely woman, blonde hb7.5 talking to man...
i catch eye contact, she flips hair and looks away..
that's twice now... "i've got to go in again" i think to myself.
i approach, "hi how are yoU?"
her: "hi! i remember you from blablabla class"
Me: "oh really? i gotta grab a drink"
hypothesis confirmed
back to my post

make eye contact w/another girl hb8... blonde hair..
no hair flip
i approach, "hi, how are you?"
her: <bitchy look> "umm.. good"
me: "i gotta go get a drink"
hypothesis confirmed
she wasn't so responsive...
but she DID make eye contact.
maybe i could have pushed thru... but that wasn't the purpose of this night.
i was studying the INITIAL responsiveness

i approach a random girl from behind
dark hair, nice ass... "hi, how are you? <tapping on shoulder>"
she seems shocked.
hypothesis confirmed
she didn't see me, and therefore was surprised when i approached
opposed to the girls who hair flipped then looked away.
back to my post
notice a girl give me a hair flip and a COMPLETE backturn
i approach, she's friendly, awesome
hypothesis confirmed

discussion
this was so interesting to me
the IOI's really seemd robotic once i started thinkin of them in evolutionary terms
and my hypotheses were confirmed
when a girl didn't give the hair flip invite, she wasn't acknowledging my social proof
but when she did, she noticed the preselection and opened the window for me to advance.
in other words, hair flips were positively correlated with approach invitations (or something like it).

can't forget the statistical rule:
correlation does not imply causation

future research:
further robotic IOI's should be identified
and tested as well
such as hand scraching and shoulder scratching

larger sample size.
