One of the most important epiphanies I had over the course of more than 30 years as a spiritual seeker was hearing it said once, that unlike the Law of Attraction and the Secret and similar ideas, spiritual life is not about "getting what you want," but rather, cultivating the ability to "want what you get." Or what you've got. When I can truly choose what I have, then the present moment no longer needs to be different in order for me to be happy. In other words, as Alan Watts said, "This is it!" Going after what I want and attracting it into my life keeps me locked into the future. Wanting what I've got leaves me in the present moment with life exactly as it is.

My two cents, anyway.
