Whenever I see someone driving a Ferrari in Sydney, I think "What a pretentious fuckwit. He's spent two hundred grand on a performance car that goes no faster than my Hyundai shitbox in this traffic." Now this is probably wrong in most cases, but I equate conspicuous consumption with an arrogant arsehole. It's possible that many women do the same (at least here in Australia, where people tend to have negative stereotypes about the wealthy). Some women may also think of such men as unachievable, and pre-reject themselves.
(I also want to stop paying attention to what other people choose to do with their money - after all, it has no effect on me. Waste of mental energy.) |
