FR: Practicing Openers.

Ok, all you readers out there,I didn't actually accomplish much other than what I set out to do... opening!

So, for the first time, I actually met a PUA in action for the first time. Needless to say I had pretty high expectations. Within the first 3 seconds of us walking towards the club we had chosen to head towards, he opened a three set walking the same direction as us with "Who should pay first on a first date, the man or the women". Conversation from there flowed pretty smoothly but he didn't try to bring them to the club we were heading into.

Inside the club, which was reasonably loud I watched my PUA buddy and his friends begin approaching girls randomly and ended up on the side with another guy who couldn't seem to get over his approach anxiety...somewhat like me.

Finally, my PUA buddy came over and said, go over to those girls over there and open them. They were probably HB3-4s , and started arguing on how uninterested I was in them, but finally I headed over to open them...just for the sake of opening them. Using the exact same opener I had heard before "Who should pay first on a first date, the man or the women" I initiated a conversation and kept it going for a good 5 minutes before breaking it off with a thank you and left. Although I didn't realize it at the time, I believe that was the first set I had ever opened in my life... Fun! The conversation was great but I should have developed it further. I walked there too quickly, cuz I was stressed out and my first couple words came out all mashed up together in a big big mess. However, I do have to say that I was impressed with how my voice carried and that I was actually able to maintain a semi-decent conversation.

From there, things got reasonably easier. I went off to open a three set, one guy, two girls. Once again using the same opener except I didn't learn from last time and still rushed in there pretty aggressively lol. Regardless this time I took my convo one step further and started asking them how they knew each other and all... but didn't know where I was going with the conversation so I just left.

While leaving the bar, my PUA buddy saw a twoset eating on a terrasse and immediately proceeded to open them with "Hey I saw you two sitting here all alone and just had to come by to say hi" and connected it onto the same "Who should pay on a first date" opener. I think I screwed up by entering the set too quickly to wing him, but then.. once again , first time I ever had to wing someone! The convo went well but since they were expecting somebody we bailed out and headed down to another bar...

This time there was a girl sitting in a corner reading a book, so I approached her asking how bored she was to read a book in the middle of an awesome evening only to find out it was a tour book... she was from the UK blabla. Once again, playful conversation on where she visited etc... but yah.


So I suppose that sums up all the sets of the night. Not many, not impressive and no one really hooked... or maybe I just wasn't interested enough.

But! Once again, I did actually manage to go open people up for the first time (yay!), I never got totally snobbed (Mebe its cuz I didn't really go up to drop dead gorgeous...but hey we gotta start somewhere), and I got to meet some PUAs.



Basically I'm feeling pretty decent about myself and hope to be able to do more of this stuff in the near future. Anywho, that sit... first FR I suppose that actually kinda makes sense..

"not impressive"...dude you never did a cold approach before, and then you go and open several girls...thats pretty impressive, be proud of it. Once you get started it's much easier to keep up the momentum, and open more, thats why practice sets, like the three set on the way, are important. Keep it up.

Scotty D is right, you got to give yourself credit. It's like I can read it in your vocab, you take away credit from yoursefl. "I didn't actually accomplish much other than what I set out to do... opening!" Try giving yourself a pat in the back instead of a "half-pat." That was a lame metaphor, but as long as you know what I mean. I'm proud of ya man, keep it up and you'll improve more.
